A Place for Peaceful Solutions

Collaborative Family Law is a model in which attorneys, clients, and coaches cooperate in finding the best resolution for the family. Collaborative Law, unlike Mediation, requires that each spouse, together with his or her attorney, commit to work with respect and compassion to reach a settlement outside the courts that is workable for all parties outside of the courts. Compared to litigation, Collaborative Law is generally a quicker, less-stressful, and cost-efficient process for everyone involved. The focus is on solving problems and resolving important issues while making the best interest of the children the focus of negotiation.

Collaborative law is a healthy alternative to litigation, however, when divorcing spouses cannot reach an agreement on important issues, the parties often turn to litigation to settle the terms governing
child custody, visitation, support, and the division of property.

 How does Collaborative
 Law work?

 Sign an agreement pledging
 not to seek litigation to
 resolve the dispute

 Exchange information openly
 and honestly

 Meet with your spouse and
 the collaborative lawyers to
 come up with an agreement

 Meet with accountants,
 financial professionals,
 therapists, appraisers and
 other consultants to find
 neutral opinions for decision-
 making.

Alternative Dispute Resolution in CA
Litigation offers no guarantee to either party of reaching a client's desired outcome and can often burden families with staggering costs and added emotional frustration. At the Center for Mediated Divorce and the family law practice of Elizabeth Jones, Attorney at Law, we encourage couples seeking a divorce to turn to the emerging approach of Collaborative Law.

Orange County, CA Collaborative Law and Divorce
The practice of Collaborative Law is still an emerging alternative to traditional divorce and Mediation, and there are only a limited number of professionals who represent clients in the Collaborative Law process. The Law Office of Elizabeth Jones, Attorney at Law is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and Collaborative Divorce Solutions of Orange County.
